Read my story

Originally from Morocco, I'm living in London with my husband and my son.

When I was diagnosed with Parkinson disease (12 years ago), it was a turning point in my life.

It all started with a stiffness in my right arm, which I considered as a fatigue or stress consequence.

But after I felt that the stiffness was reaching my right leg, I visited my neurologist, who confirmed to me the diagnosis of Young Onset Parkinson Disease (YOPD), which simply means a Parkinson disease that appears before the age of 60.

It was such a shock when the only thing you know about Parkinson is that it's and ''elderly people kind-of disease''.

But thanks to my mental strength, my positive attitude and my resilience, I accepted it and learnt to adapt my life around my symptoms.

Today, Parkinson is such an integral part of my life, that I don't say ''I have Parkinson's''. I say ''I'm living My Parkinson'',  because I know for sure it will be with me as long as I live.

Yes, I, too, am worried (just like you) about my future, asking myself if, one day, I will be a burden on my loved ones.

But to be honest, life is so short to keep asking those questions that not myself, nor the doctors, nor my loved ones will ever be able to answer. So, I've decided to keep living and enjoying my life, just like everyone does, while managing my symptoms the best I can.

In fact, Parkinson has served me good so far because:

-It taught me to turn my weaknesses into strength.

- It taught me to always fight to be a better version of myself.

- It taught me to be resilient and never surrender under any condition

- It made me discover my inner talents, that I never thought I had.

- It made me change my career path and the way I look at things.

If you are interested to know more about that, I invite you to read my posts below.
