Most people know that the risk of developing Parkinson disease increases with age, especially over 50 years. What most people are shocked about, is when a young person (under 50) is diagnosed. In that case, it is called Young Onset Parkinson Disease (YOPD).
Not only we are shocked by the diagnosis, but we are lost in trying to learn anything and everything about the disease. This is what happened to me as well when I was diagnosed at the age of 28!!
I was looking (right and left and center across internet) to learn more about this disease and its importance in terms of numbers. After analyzing and crossing different trustworthy website such as Parkinson UK, Parkinson Foundation,...), I thought it is paramount for me to share my findings with you.

It remains extremely rare that Parkinson's-like symptoms appear in children and teenagers. This form of the disease is called Juvenile Parkinsonism and is often associated with specific, high-Parkinson Disease risk genetic mutations.
